Major application submitted for latest Trent Vale village near Scunthorpe
A major planning application has been submitted for another village within the Trent Vale development west of Scunthorpe, with proposals for up to 1,121 homes, a primary school and a new local centre.
Gleeson Homes is seeking full permission for 521 homes on land west of Scotter Road and north of Moor Road. The site covers 65 hectares of agricultural land immediately south of a planned development of 81 homes, which is itself south of Silica Garden Lodge Centre.
The company has also applied for outline permission for up to 600 further residential plots. The outline proposals include a local centre with retail, medical and business uses, along with the creation of a primary school.
An outline application does not have to set out detailed designs or the number of bedrooms in each property. Taken together, the full and outline elements would allow for up to 1,121 new homes if approved.
Trent Vale is the recently adopted name for the development previously known as Lincolnshire Lakes. The updated plans place less emphasis on lakes and focus instead on the creation of six new villages between the River Trent and Scunthorpe.
Permission was granted last month for the first of those villages, Ashmere. It is planned to include 593 homes and a commercial unit beside the future Burringham Bypass, with construction expected to start this summer.
