Carlisle claim comfortable triumph over Scunthorpe
Carlisle United secured their second win of the Enterprise National League campaign with a 4-2 victory over Scunthorpe United at Brunton Park.
The home side controlled the contest from the outset and took the lead after seven minutes. Miguel Azeez finished the early pressure with the opening goal, putting Carlisle in front.
Scunthorpe responded through Jordan Richards, whose goal brought the visitors level. However, the equaliser did little to shift the balance of the match, with Carlisle continuing to dictate proceedings.
The hosts restored their advantage before half-time when Regan Linney found the net, before Josh Williams added another goal to give Carlisle a two-goal cushion at the interval.
Carlisle continued to look the stronger side after the restart. Substitute Junior Luamba had an immediate impact, scoring with a deflected effort in the 68th minute just moments after entering the game.
That goal left Scunthorpe with a substantial task and appeared to settle the outcome. Ross Barrows did give the visitors a late lift by scoring six minutes from the end, but his effort proved only a consolation in an eventful closing period.
Carlisle held on for a convincing home win, while Scunthorpe left Brunton Park beaten 4-2.
